Root out stalking

“I have an obsession with the unattainable and i have a desire to eliminate what i cannot attain” those were the exact words of the stalker who murdered model Rebecca Schaeffer after stalking her for 3 years .Now these arent just words ,if you think of all those stalking related crimes in india ,these were the exact mindset of the offenders .This is like a freaking formula for the stalker .I do understand that playfull stalking at malls and cinema theaters and repeatedly texting a girl against her approval isnt the same as these offenses ,but how do you think those offenses would have started ? .Afterall every story has to start with a single word .Do you think that all these guys who cut women into pieces,or set them ablaze or poured acid on them wanted to do so on the first day of their stalking? No,everyone is scared of the law , but they still they do it because they get caught up in a loop ,they become insane and grow tired of rejections , which would have been completely unnecessary if they had a little bit of sanity and hadnt started stalking at the first place ! .

Now what is stalking exactly and what all falls under it ? you can safely place your bet on the ignorance of stalking and the odds will surely favour you because every single person has their own perception on what falls under normalcy and what doesn’t.To make things simple and understandable there is law .And IPC 354D states that a man who
– follows a woman and contacts, or attempts to contact such woman to foster personal interaction repeatedly despite a clear indication of disinterest by such woman; or
monitors the use by a woman of the internet, email or any other form of electronic communication,
commits the offence of stalking .

And IPC 354D is not taken very seriously in india ,the offenders are granted bail in no time during their first offence.What officials has to consider is that stalking isnt just stalking and it paves way for sexual harrassment, abduction rape and murder .Only 26% get convicted .

On layman term “Bugging a women by trying to contact her repeatedly or follow her to her house or office or whererver she goes without her knowledge or after her clear indication of disinterest on you is very creepy and those creeps should be put behind bars “.Which indiretly indicates that all the creepy actors in this indian film industry has to be put behind bars for propagation of stalking culture and making it look cool and sassy .Why is that the actor who always stalks the women is shown as the good one which is ironic and the rich guy who has befriended the women turns out to be the villain,its like an unproposed formula in indian film industry.its actually the opposite.They have normalized not just stalking but also have portrayed decieving to win the one you love is absolutely fine and thats the only way to go.Like madhavan in minnale,ajith in vaali,and Remo Sivakarthikeyan and not to mention Dhanush who seems to survive in this industry just coz of his stalkings .Our choices of movies is seriously lame and questionable .when did we go this low ? Cinema is one of the huge factor to be blamed for normalisation of stalking.Its high time for movies to stop showing stalkers as the good hearted persons ,who succeeds the women at last.

And also you simply cannot deny the fact that quite a lot of commitments around us had started with stalking .I just had my doubts about this and had to enquire . People told me that some girls succum to the situation and a few girls likes to be stalked on a chronic basis because of the attention they get .Some of stalking do end with the stalker and the girl getting together.But a lot end miserable. Some told me that they like to be stalked if they tend to like the person who stalks ,i dont understand if you both like each other why cant you just go out for a coffee or something and sort things out rather than acting like hippies.Yeah i did mention girls in all these sentences because a women would never succum to any situation nor she would settle for anything that has a potential to hinder her freedom and feminity . Before telling “YES” to a stalker just try to put some sense into your brain that he has the potential to offend a women because thats what he did to you at first hindering with your freedom. Just think of it ,he has been a stalker all these days and how do you think his personality would change even if you get committed to him .All i say is dont be ignorant.Stalking is not Romantic and never will be under any circumstances .Stalking is a crime and a stalker is a criminal there is no but(s and if(s.

Stalking isnt a fun or playful thing ,lot of crimes against women starts with stalking .Like the tech women murdered in a station and there are much more .It might start small but most of the time ends with the stalker setting the women in ablaze ,throwing acids or cutting her.

So what might actually be an unoffensive way to handle this situation.Well if you see a Women and like her you can either go upto her and ask her out or you can chicken out if you are too scared to do it inspite of following her everywhere she goes that day and disturbing her privacy and freedom .We might have no idea as to what they go through for a week ,dont you think they actually deserve to be at peace when they are out ? Yes and some women might be ok with non troubling stalking ,but you never know who it is .So always consider the worst case scenario and stay away and give them the privacy they deserve .It might be really fun and entertaining for you to stalk someone along with your friends but what you dont understand is the aftermath .You make them really self concious about themselves and their dressings and infact there are lot of women who are scared to come out because of the fear of getting stalked . Besides india is one such country where women are blamed for being victims based on their dressing and attitudes . Apparently indians want women to cover up from head to toe and be at home ,if they dont wanna be stalked .

It would be absurd to not talk about what these celebrities face while writing about stalking .Its high time we stop acting like jerks and give them their own privacy .Considering them as equals is actually good for your own self respect.

And the new thing to talk about stalking would be cyberstalking .Almost all of us stalk and mostly it is celebrities in twitter and facebook.Some of us stalk our person of interests in social sites .I really have biased views on this .Is it not obvious that if you update your daily proceedings it is tend leak out no matter what ? There are always wolves out there to steal your personal informations through the internet for their financial benefits like stealing your card or bank informations .It is better to minimize updating your informations in social sites rather than repenting later .In coming years cyberstalking will put a lot more burden on society than stalking.

Your freedom should never overlap someone else’s freedom.

A “NO” doesnt mean “KEEP TRYING UNTIL I SAY YES” ,A “NO” simply means “LEAVE ME ALONE”
